Yup, we homeschool now.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been open about the idea to homeschool my children…until the pandemic of 2020 happened.
Even today, I will tell you I am not the type of mother to homeschool my children >> so let’s squash that little thought in your head right now that is telling you you’re the only one who can’t homeschool your children.
We can be the type of mothers that “feel” we are not equipped or made for homeschooling. The truth? We can handle more than we can fathom, because we are women that will step up if the time calls for it. When our realities shift, God equips us in the shift so that we can rise up to meet the challenge.
I wasn’t the mother that could homeschool my children, but I am the mother that will rise every day to do the hard thing. To me, homeschooling is the hard thing…and friend, it is so worth it.
I cannot and will not do this alone, and you don’t have to either.
I found a group of women that are in this journey with me, with a similar story as mine, and we are making it happen. By God’s grace and our like-minded mission, we are witnessing our kids thriving, happy, and discovering how much potential they truly have.
Need direction? I may have a few resources for you.
>>But before you go any further, if you’re new to homeschooling seek out women in your community that are already doing it. Join homeschooling Facebook groups where you can ask any and all questions.
Homeschooling doesn’t have to be hard, painful, or miserable.
It just needs to have the potential to be enjoyable with schedules that have permission to be free.
(and it can be.)
Here’s what helped me:
-
TeachersPayTeachers
“Teachers Pay Teachers is an online marketplace where teachers buy and sell original educational materials.”
When I first started my homeschooling journey, this site was a goldmine with their free resources provided by professionals! You will LOVE it! -
FPEA
“The Florida Parent-Educators Association exists solely to serve homeschooling families in Florida. It executes that mission through support for the legal right to homeschool, local school board education and interaction, support group networking, a state convention, local conferences and events, informative communications, and individual encouragement, all in accordance with Judeo-Christian principles.”
If you are a newly-homeschooling FLORIDA parent (like myself), you do not want to miss their yearly convention! I walked in overwhelmed, however, I walked out confident and ready for our journey! -
Christian Book
If I didn’t purchase all of my curriculum at the FPEA convention, I found what I needed through Christian Book. Ya’ll, they have an entire section dedicated to everything homeschool!
”Find homeschool curriculum (including Christian homeschool curriculum), workbooks, living books, and resources for all styles and methods of homeschooling at Christianbook.com/Homeschool! Discover the homeschooling curriculum that will best fit your child and family to meet your educational goals for the year.”
